Saguaro / Cacti Treatments Explained:
Cactus vitamin treatment: Sprayed on with 3/4 water and 1/4 liquid cactus vitamin formula, we use this to encourage density and promote new growth.
Sunscreen treatment: Sprayed on with 3/4 water and 1/4 solution, this acts like a sunscreen for cacti. This allows the cacti to lock and hold moisture in and repair themselves from within, while repelling the sun's harmful rays. Some saguaros and cacti will stress from being transplanted or from the sun's intensity during our hot summer months. You will notice this with the cacti becoming thin, shrinking in size, dehydrating, or browning. This is caused by the sun's harmful rays and intense heat. Using this treatment will help ensure the recovery of your cacti.
Dusting sulfur treatment: This is a powder that is applied by hand or brushed on. This treatment is for a saguaro or cacti that is damaged or diseased with a possible infection called bacterial necrosis. This infection causes the cacti to leak a black odorous liquid. This treatment is successful, if the infection is detected in the early stages. Dusting sulfur is also used on saguaros or cacti that have been cut, scraped, or damaged by applying directly to the affected areas, where it seals the wound like an antibiotic preventing any bacteria from causing a possible infection.
